Dental Crown - Bridges
Dental crown is an artificial replacement that restores missing tooth structure by surrounding part or all of the remaining structure with a material such as cast metal, porcelain, or a combination of materials such as metal and porcelain.
The crowns are placed on teeth that can not be restored aesthetically and / or functionally with fillings or overlays.
They can be placed both in the posterior and anterior teeth.
- The crowns may be metal-ceramic or all-ceramic. The metal-ceramic crowns have an internal metal framework and are externally covered with porcelain to resemble dental tissues.
- All-ceramic crowns have no metal inside, resulting in color matching with the rest of the natural teeth, without being less resistant than metal-ceramic crowns.
The bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth, as adjacent teeth can be used as abutments. Their materials are similar to those of the single crowns.
